KFS North: Summer Ball
Saturday, 5th September 2015
The Warehouse, Leeds
KFS North's Summer ball has become one of the UK fetish events of the year. Rounding off the Summer season this year the event moves to its new home, the legendary Leeds super-club The Warehouse which saw the as then unknown synthpop duo Soft Cell premier a certain cover song that broke them as charting act, the venue would then become a cornerstone of the acid house and rave scenes of the late 80s/early 90s. It's with this in mind that the event's theme Fetrave came into being bringing with it a more of a club night element to the fore of the than in previous years.
From 11am until 4pm the day the market fills the main dance floor with designers and traders such as Cathouse Clothing, Latex 101, Arcanum Accessories, Yummy Gummy Latex Fashions, Leather Delights, Simply Pleasures Leeds, Victoria Regina, and Roys Holistic Therapies providing latest in latex, bondage gear and other sexy items for fetish fans to lust after. At 9pm the doors open for the evening's proceedings. The event keeps the three room layout comprising of the main area, dungeon/play room, and retro room with its latex stall and photography area.
The performances are a little more streamlined with the burlesque side played down making room for the welcome addition of a band in the form of Birmingham's Elmo Sexwhistle who bring a heavy blend of solid synthpop meets industrial rock/metal to the evening, which included a good cover of 'Tainted Love' in their own right. The addition of the band to the night's lineup gives an early injection of energy toand gets people dancing.
The burlesque element is brought courtesy of a rope bondage performance from Mrk Rigging and some hot fire action from Lady Viper. Rigging provides a subtle and sensual lesson in rope bondage that draws the crowd in as he practices a myriad of knots and ties on his willing partner Xinran. It's a sexy introduction to the night and one that keeps the fetish elements of the event at the forefront of the mind. Lady Viper then rounds off the night with an exhilarating pyro performance complete with angle grinding, fire play/eating and breathing that gets a few people more than a little hot under the collar.
The night also features a tightly choreographed catwalk show courtesy of Cathouse Clothing and a selection of models from DS Girls and Rogue Model Management. The theme this year is the jungle with a host of animal print outfits elegantly shown off by the models to a groovy mix of Katy Perry and the theme from the Lion King from DJ Paul Domaster.
Throughout the night the DJs Paul Domaster, Tommi K, CTDJ's, Steve W & Dom Evens, Presley, and The DJ Mitz drop a selection of classic club anthems, techno, edm, rock, synthpop, goth, industrial, and hard trance sets keeping things varied and interesting while providing a soundtrack that everyone can get into.
One of the strongest events so far the night was a celebration of fashion, fetish, sexuality and great music that will be hard to top next year.
