We're now six months in
to this little experiment called Intravenous Magazine. I hope you've
all enjoyed the ride so far. We're slowly beginning to turn this
webzine thing into a brand name that carries some weight and we can
only continue to thank our supporters who have allowed us to do what
we do best.
This month I've been
thinking... quite hard in fact. Last week I mentioned a few articles
that cropped up on the BBC website. One regarding the success of
independent record label Cherry Red Records, as well as two looking
at whether / or not the mainstream music industry is supporting
emerging talent. I then thought back to a few months ago when the BBC
also ran articles on the decline of HMV while independent record shops hang on to existence and the same of vinyl as a format in the
face of growing competition from digital downloads. And there was
also the article on The Independent website about the closure of many
pubs that previously were part of the live music circuit.
With this in mind I have set up a poll on the Intravenous Mag facebook page. The first of three... maybe four in fact. This first one asks the music buying public what their favourite format is to buy, and the music makers what they sell the most of. So please, for the sake of informed research, vote and comment.

But it is an
interesting time for music as more artists and labels seem to be
releasing or re-releasing their music on both physical and digital
formats. And also in the way that consumerism is shifting away from
high street chains to digital or speciality shops. Of course this is
all conjecture until a longer term trend can be studied. But it does
raise a lot of interesting questions.
In other news thanks
once again to Juggernaut Services for their competition prizes last
month as well as to those who entered and those who won. If anyone else out there would like to give us some competition prizes we'd be happy to help!
Finally, if
you are interested in writing for IVM please direct your attention to
